Holiday Time…Hooray!

Whether the weather the be warm, windy, wet or a suitably summery blend of all three, there’s always so much to do.

Amongst that pile of clothes, flippers and sun cream you’re packing for that long drive to the beach, stroll across the fields or cycle over the downs, you need to put together your…

“SPECIAL SURVIVAL KIT”

  • Find a pop down plastic folder.

  • Inside put….

1. A notebook with blank pages .

2. A selection of coloured pencils with a sharpener.

3.  A glue stick

4. YOUR LIST ….

This impossibly useful kit will help you discover, record and remember all the fun and interesting things about where you’re going, who you meet and what you get up to.

Try to FILL your notebook in the BEST way you can think of ….

Here are some suggestions for your LIST …

1. Make a map of your journey.

2. Sketch the views around you.

3. Draw who is with you.

4. Write down the places you visit, which are the most interesting and why?

5. Describe things you do, perhaps make it into a story.

6. What is the weather like?

7. If you’re planning to eat out.  Is there anything special about the food you’ll be having that you can’t normally enjoy?

8. Any fascinating wildlife?  How many rabbits, squirrels or blackbirds did you spot.  Did a Seagull steal your Ice Cream?!

9. Try and draw some detailed pictures of where you are and use as many colours as possible.  If there isn’t time and you have a camera handy, take some snaps to look at and copy from later.  But memorize as much as you can and use your imagination, its great practice!

10. Collect labels from local food products, hunt out some stamps, pick a few flowers or harvest some leaves!  Buy a postcard or find some leaflets and brochures about any landmarks you visit.  Keep them safe then, when you get back home, stick every one in your……
