Capture the Parents – Presented by Livestock.

A photo competition with a difference……this time kids take the pics!

Children are often the subject of photographs. Here the tables are turned and kids between the ages of 4-7 get to take photos of their parents or carers. The pictures might be posed, or more likely, seized at inopportune moments.

The 20 best pictures will be exhibited at The Dome Theatre in April 2012, launching the Children’s Festival.  A panel of judges, including Zoe Ball, Lord Bassam, Guy Lloyd (Juice Radio) Helen Cammock (Photofringe) and Gordon McDonald (Photoworks) will select pictures that best show aspects of parents’ characters, dispositions or busy lives.

There are some great prizes, including Kiddizoom cameras & family tickets/vouchers to: Drusillas, The Dome & Komedia Theatres, Knockhatch Adventure Park, Newhaven Fort, Sealife Centre, Funplex, Jessops, Washbrooks Farm, Painting Pottery Café, Bombane’s Restaurant, Clocktower Cameras, Pavilion Museum, Yellowave Beach Sports & Duke of York’s Picturehouse.

Pictures giving child’s name and age should be sent by 17 February 2012

The project also incorporates Connected Families, a series of workshops which has been funded by The Big Lottery Fund.  There will be 3 free workshops for families, which concentrate on communication skills using photography. Participants will take photos of each other which will be printed out and shared. Cameras can also be taken away (for a small deposit) to continue the workshop at home.
