AbracaDABra!, is celebrating Children’s Book Week 2010 by launching ‘Readalong with Radio’.
We invite our young listeners to read along with classic children’s stories.
This week we’re airing the opening chapter of Kenneth Graham’s wonderful tale, “The Wind in the Willows”. You can follow the text on screen while listening to our adaptation of the story, read by Hugh Hemmings. You can print out the chapter from a PDF file too.
Broadcasts go out each night at 7:00, during our bed-time ‘Story Hour’. This is a preview to a serialisation of the complete book, which we will be airing as a special treat during the Christmas holidays.
Download the PDF file of Chapter 1 here.
You will need Adobe Acrobat reader on your computer in order to view this file, this can be downloaded for free here.
We will also greet National Poetry Day on Thursday 17/10/10 with popular poems by William Wordsworth; Edward Lear; Lewis Carroll and Robert Louis Stevenson.
So listen out and maybe write a poem of your own.
We believe radio adds a wonderful dimension to any event that encourages a love of stories and poetry. Readalong with Radio can improve reading as well.
Love Abby and Dabby XX.
