* AbracaDABra! Back to Nature with the BBC *

Children's radio service abracaDABra! is to show-case a series of BBC Breathing Places Nature Tales featuring characters from the Cbeebies Green Balloon Club. abracadabra! broadcasts daily on the Play Radio UK network.

This is the second BBC partnership for the pioneering station which also broadcasts Monsters & Magic Bedtime Stories from a BBC Radio Sussex writing competition to promote adult literacy.

BBC Breathing Places Nature Tales, read by Huw Edwards, will be scheduled at 8am and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the autumn term.

* AbracaDABra! joins hands with the BBC *

abracaDABra! is presenting a BBC story-series from the Summer Holidays onwards!

'Monsters & Magic Bedtime Stories', read by well known personalities, are produced by BBC Sussex to raise funds for the Rainbow Trust SMILE Appeal which helps children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Scheduled each Saturday and Tuesday at 7pm, the series showcases winning entries from a BBC Sussex writing competition for adult listeners. The 12 stories are a mix of funny, scary and adventurous tales all involving dragons, magic and monsters.

* AbracaDABra! joins Play Radio UK *

The original children’s radio service abracaDABra! is now airing all-day music, songs, stories and entertainment for young children and their families on Play Radio UK every day: 0600 to 1900hrs, with plans to extend hours by autumn.

The wide ranging music repertoire is  “designed to appeal from cradle to grave” and covers retro and contemporary family show and film scores, light music such as Leroy Anderson’s charming ‘Sandpaper Ballet, novelty and story songs from Rolf Harris, Danny Kaye and Tommy Steele, traditional jazz, folk and nursery rhymes through to Scott Joplin, the Goons and Stan Freberg.

Children's radio service abracaDABra! launches on the nation's biggest internet radio network,

Play Radio UK.

To greet the summer holidays abracaDABra! is airing all-day music, songs, stories and entertainment for younger children and their families.

Susan Stranks, who pioneered digital [DAB] children's radio in 2002, says "abracaDABra! proved digital listening has a special place in children's lives and now internet radio has its role to play as the most flexible delivery service".
