AbracaDABra!, is celebrating Children’s Book Week 2010 by launching ‘Readalong with Radio’. We invite our young listeners to read along with classic children’s stories.

This week we’re airing the opening chapter of Kenneth Graham’s wonderful tale, “The Wind in the Willows”.

You can follow the text on screen while listening to our adaptation of the story, read by Hugh Hemmings. You can print out the chapter from a pdf file too. Broadcasts go out each night at 7:00, during our bed-time ‘Story Hour’.

*It's Alice Again! A Sequel for Summer*

abracaDABra welcomes our intrepid little hero's return as she sets out on her second mysterious and exciting adventure. This time, the fantasy filled land she is preparing to explore lies beyond something we all know never lies, yet never tells the truth....her mirror.

A place where everything seems not just a little different, but as different as she could possibly imagine. A whole new cast of wondrous characters await her arrival, as well as one or two who seem oddly familiar and as ever, they like nothing more than to argue, especially with a stranger...who always answers back! The nine episodes will begin airing on Friday the 9th of July as part of our bedtime story hour at 7pm. Read more here.

* ABC Tales for abracaDABra! *

abracaDABra! has joined forces with community writers network ABCTales, in a 'Stories for Children' competition. The ten best entries have been recorded for Easter holiday airing on abracaDABra! and overall winner, Catherine Eden, has received a Pure Evoke Flow digital radio for her story 'Erwin and the Multicoloured Trousers', which launches the series on Saturday April 3rd at 7 pm.

Award winning children's author, Miriam Moss, who judged the competition, praised the high standard and said of the winning entry, "This ticked all the boxes for me: a well created world of charming, child-friendly characters,  ... pitched just right language-wise, and about friends overcoming obstacles together. Perfect".
