Read Along Radio Presents Dads Time Tales

admin | May 13th, 2012 - 3:55 am

A new selection of stories written by eight Dads especially for all fathers and their children to share can now be heard in our “Read along Radio” hour at 4pm.

Dads’ Time Tales were created by the Dads’ Time Group of fathers and their children, supported by the Croydon Pre-school Learning Alliance.

Dads’ Time
started five and a half years ago at the Sure Start London Road site in Broad street Croydon.  It was the brain child of the Croydon Branch of the Pre-school Learning Alliance who identified the need for a week-end fathers’ group in the area. The original funding was received through the Local Network Fund and then, due to its success, continued to be supported by the Local Authority from their Children’s Centre funding

Its popularity has led to Dads’ Time starting up at the Aerodrome Children’s Centre during Sunday lunch times.

The group has undertaken a number of workshops and projects over the years which recently involved making simple picture story books with their children through the Every Child a Talker national project.

Funding was received to do a video and CD of dads reading stories but when a further opportunity came for the dads to attend a course run by Croydon Adult Learning and Training service to help them write their own children’s stories they leapt at the chance. This led to a CD and book of their own stories, illustrated of course by their own children!

We’re proud to present Dads’ Time Tales and hope you enjoy reading along with their stories.
